1930 Baer Toy Catalog
Schoenhut, Keystone, Tootsie Toys Many More
This is an enormous, beautifully reproduced wholesale catalog, with prices, originally issued in 1930 by the Baer Toy and Novelty Company of San Francisco. This auction is for the toys, masks, and party favors portion of the catalog (pages 123-247), although we include the entire index. We also have a 1926 Baer catalog to be offered soon, and can put up an auction for the entire catalogs if requested.
Among the many toys are:
- Paper and rubber masks of all kinds.
- Roly Poly toys and other baby toys. Kiddie-Kars.
- Pages and pages of pedal and riding toys: Kiddie-Kars, other riding toys such as pedal airplanes, pedal automobiles. Velocipedes and tricycles. Scooters, wood, steel coaster wagons, stake wagons, doll buggies, toy wheelbarrows.
- Penny whistles, dolls, tops, pewter toys, and other penny toys.
- Tootsie Toys, Tinker Toys , Felix the Cat. Games of all sorts. Whistles and other noisy and musical toys. Hohner harmonicas.
- Schoenhut pianos. Schoenhut circus toys.
- Water guns, air rifles. Beanies ("skull caps") like they wore in "Our Gang" and "Gas House Gang" movies.
- Lead soldiers and cowboys.
- Roller-skates. Toys yachts and boats of all sorts - perhaps Ives. Wood pull toys of all sorts. Bell and chime toys. Tillicum wood cars and boats.
- Cast iron and tin toys - Cars, trucks, boats, airplanes. Banks - tin and cast iron. Mechanical and friction toys of all types.
- Many, many Keystone and Steelcraft toys. Structo trucks.
- Marbles.
- Movie and still viewing machines, Keystone Kinescopes. Moviegraphs and radiopticons.
- Gilbert toys of all types.
- "Spirit of St. Louis" construction sets. Building sets of all kinds.
- American Flyer and Lionel mechanical and electric trains and accessories.
- Children's books of all sorts.
- Dolls - Kewpie, mama, rubber, celluloid, bisque. Madame Alexander dolls. Topsy dolls. Many Acme and carnival dolls.
- Toy stoves and irons (including some pretty scary ones that heat up!).
- Wicker doll buggies or carriages.
- Wagons and coasters. Scooters.
- Many, many other toys, cars, trucks, airplanes, etc.
There are 125 pages of toys and novelties, including an enormous index (available for browsing below). Among its thousands of items, Baer offered toys, notions, personal-care items, holiday decorations and costumes, stationery, and writing implements of all sorts to small and medium-sized stores across the nation.

Baer's method of categorizing things was a bit odd and not at all consistent, so you may have to be creative and look in a few areas before finding what you want.
