This is a fine reproduction of the "American Decorator" stencil catalog, Volumes 1 and 2, c.1890. Decorative stencils and designs are illustrated in both full color and B&W. In the original introduction to Volume 1, the catalog states "Three-fourths of these sketches are executed with stencils; for the rest, free hand work is recommended." The full-color pages are all stencil designs, as are most of the B&W pages. We are estimating the date, since no date appears in either volume of the original catalogs.

We have reproduced all the color on heavy acid-free stock. The B&W pages are printed on heavy stock as well. Also available on CD.

This is not a photocopy - our photo-editing software and digital techniques allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail, limited sometimes only by the production values of the original. Its color-coordinated plastic spiral binding, unlike a cheaper comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place. The front and back covers are printed on heavy marbled cover stock and protected by sturdy clear vinyl outer covers.
