This is a highly detailed and accurate reproduction of a fantastic c1880 Gibbs hooked rug catalog. Issued to advertise their automatic rug-hooking device, the catalog is filled with wonderful rug designs, fifty of them, all in color. Each rug also has its size noted.

Interestingly, the main motifs of many of these rugs are almost dead ringers for Frost designs (or vice versa!). Evidently, the laissez-faire business policies of that time allowed extremely free "interpretations" of competitors' designs. In our introduction, we include the similar Frost design numbers that we found. There is also a 4-page price list that includes rugs and yarns, with the yarn colors for each rug.

We have digitally reproduced and restored our original fragile catalog pages at an extremely high resolution. The pages are printed on a heavy gloss paper, and the colors are extremely accurate. This is not a photocopy - our methods allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail, and the colors are accurately shown. Its true spiral binding, unlike a comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place.
