1894 Daniel Low

Sterling Silver Novelties

Many Hundreds of Objects

This catalog was issued in July of 1894, only three years after the first "Witch" spoon was issued. In his own introduction to this catalog, Daniel Low claims "we were the first to offer souvenir spoons into this country".

This 1894 catalog contains a great number of souvenir spoons, as well as a group of "Witch" novelties. Individual berry forks and a range of more conventional flatware, such as "Imperial", "Watteau", "Old English", "Cromwell", and "Shell", are also pictured.

Prices are given for all items, and customers are urged to "Send Christmas Orders Early." The 1894 catalog order form is also included.

Among the hundreds of objects pictured in photographs and engravings are:

  • Several pages of the famous Daniel Low souvenir spoons, including "Witch", "Leif Erickson", and many others.
  • Ladies' sewing notions.
  • Belt, collar, and hat buckles.
  • Ladies' dresser sets.
  • Cuff links.
  • Hollow ware and trays.
  • Flatware.
  • Desk accessories.
  • Writing implements
  • Salt and pepper shakers and saltcellars.
  • Ladies' garter buckles.
  • Brooches and chatelaine pins.
  • Hat and scarf pins.
  • Cologne bottles.
  • Match boxes and covered boxes of all types.
  • Nursery (diaper) pins.
  • Candlesticks.
  • Also offered, though not pictured, is an illustrated account of the 1692 Salem witchcraft trials.

We are have digitally reproduced our original 65-page catalog at an extremely high resolution, printed the pages on high-quality gloss stock, and bound it between heavy clear covers with a clear coil. This is a printed book, not a photocopy. Our methods allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail. The true spiral binding, unlike a comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place. This is a permanent reference book for Daniel Low collectors and other interested readers.
