This is a fine reproduction of a collection of illustrated advertising sheets and loose catalog pages. The decorative stencils and designs on the original sheets were printed in full color, half-tone, and B&W. We are estimating the date as 1889, since that year is printed on one page.

The stencils and designs in this collection are attributed to the New York firms of Wiggers & Trischka, the Decorative Designer [Designing] Co., the Stencil Company of N.Y. and the New York Stencil Company. As well as having originally created them, these firms also sold reuseable full-size pattern sheets for their stencils and designs.

In addition to designs and stencils, one page includes both a formula for "squirt relief work", and a description of how to apply the mixture. "Squirt relief" was apparently a method of applying a type of low-relief decoration similar to that used in forming ribbons and flowers for cake icing. At least one of the full-color plates and a few of the B&W plates seem to illustrate this decorating technique.

We have printed all our color pages on heavy acid-free stock. The B&W pages are printed on heavy stock as well. This catalog is also available on CD.

We have digitally reproduced and restored our original catalog at an extremely high resolution, and printed the pages on a heavy paper stock. This is not a photocopy - our photo-editing software and digital techniques allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail, limited sometimes only by the production values of the original. Some of our fine reproduction catalogs are already in museum research collections.

This reproduction catalog is meant to be a permanent reference. Its color-coordinated plastic spiral binding, unlike a cheaper comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place. The front and back covers are printed on heavy marbled cover stock and protected by sturdy clear vinyl outer covers.
